Left paragraph indent appearing

Hi all,

If anyone has any ideas on this problem it would be gratefully received.  Occasionally, I am working on a document and a new "unexplained" indent appears on the left of the page which pushes all the paragraph tabs to the right.  There is no rhyme or reason as to when this happens or why it appears, but when it is there, I cannot get rid of it.  The paragraph markers (circled below) cannot be dragged to the left and there is no indication in master pages or any of the paragraphs tabs what the cause is.  It is very annoying, the only way I can get back to normal is creating a new document and starting again.  The grab below shows how far the indent is in when it appears.  This particular occurrence wass in FrameMaker 11 but I think it has happened before in earlier versions, however it is not a regular occurrence (4 /5 times in 5 years of using FrameMaker).

I'd cautiously suggest it looks more like a sidehead than a paragraph property … you could check this by ctrl+clicking to select the text frame on a sample page, then esc,g,o (or right-click, Object properties). If so, it [sometimes] works to flick to Master page view and back: discard overrides if/when prompted.

Generous sideheads seem to be "one of those things" when importing a from mml, but you didn't mention you were doing that.

Thanks Bob....

Correct answer, I had never worked or knew anything about them (and still don't) but Fiery suggested the best way to rectify the problem.

Thanks for your help.
