Lock Files Not Deleting... Again

I found an answer from last year related to lock files, which was... turn off the lock file feature in Preferences. While I can do this, there are some concerns about fallout. For example, one book has +200 files. The editor might touch 30 to 50 in any given month. If he were to leave one open (perhaps he minimized or otherwise failed to close it without noticing) and run a book-wide operation, I'm not sure what might happen. More vexing is this simple fact: it hasn't happened since an update problem some years back, but its happening again after the last two updates.

Does anyone have any theories about what might be setting off these behaviors for files? Is there some other solution besides turning off lock files altogether? Should I be poking Adobe's bug report system?

    Here is a script you can use that deletes a document's .lck file after you close the document. Copy it to a text document and save it with a .jsx extension. Copy the file to your C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\FrameMaker\17\startup folder, where <UserName> is your Windows login name. (If the folder doesn't exist, create it.) Quit and restart FrameMaker and the script should work automatically.

    #target framemaker

    Notification (Constants.FA_Note_PostQuitDoc, true);

    function Notify (note, object, sparam, iparam) {

        var file;

        // Derive the lock file's path from the document.
        file = sparam.replace (/[^\.]+$/, "lck");

        // Make a File object and see if the lock file exists.
        file = new File (file);
        if (file.exists === true) {
            // Delete the lock file.
            file.remove ();
        }
    }

    Hi,

    There are these bug reports which state that this is fixed:

    https://tracker.adobe.com/#/view/FRMAKER-9180

    https://tracker.adobe.com/#/view/FRMAKER-12721

    I am sure that the specific issue is fixed.

    I remember that my lck files were also not deleted, when I had searched across all files - as in FRMAKER-12721.

    Possibly there is something which you do which causes this. Definitely write a bug report that there are still occasions when lck files are not deleted.

    When you post the link, others can vote for it.

    Best regards, Winfried

    Hi,

    I had this issue with an older update. With one of these updates this was fixed.

    What's your version?

    Best regards, Winfried
