Looking for SGML AECMA 1.8

Hello,

I work for a little services company and a costumer has told us to make some little works in FrameMaker. I have to say that I have limited experience with that program and only with non structured version. Our customer asks us to make some data modules from "SGML AECMA 1.8". We think this is a template to acomplish with AECMA S1000D requirements but we don't know where to get this templates.

Does someone know anything about SGML AECMA 1.8?

By the other hand, we are also interested in some plugin for Simplified English.

    Hello,

    You have two routes to working with S1000D 1.8 and FrameMaker:

    1. Download the SGML DTDs from http://www.s1000d.org then build a structured FrameMaker application for each required DTD. You may find this a major undertaking. An experienced developer could retrofit the 1.8 DTD into the Adobe S1000D application pack, have a look at: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/framemaker/tutorials_whitepapers.html.
    2. Use one of the ready to run S1000D applications packs. Have a look at the Mekon products at http://www.aerospace-defence.com/.

    There is however more to S1000D than just creating a few data modules. It's worth getting to know the specification before you start the project.

    Thank you all for your help. We are interested in Mekon and it seems their product fits quite well to our needs.

    You might find more information on AECMA requirements from the Framers list, by searching the Archives, here:

    There is a way to search the Framers archives, but I can't find the info at the moment, maybe somebody else can post the instructions  ... <looking around hopefully> ...

    As far as plugins for Simplified English, you might be able to find those mentioned on the Framers list too -- that list seems to have a more international readership.

    If anybody else reading this has some suggestions for Carlos, please jump in!

    Just use Google and follow your search term with "site:frameusers.com". For

    example, type "AECMA site:frameusers.com" into the Google search box.
