MathML equation appears as halftone in PDF

Hi,

Thanks in advance. I have a wired challenge in Adobe FrameMaker. I have created a small equation using MathML editor, and when I generate the PDF, the equations appears as half-tone image in the PDF, ie., I can't do any search in the PDF. I want the MathML equations in PDF to be searchable.

Here is the document I am referring with a small equation mathml_halftone.pdf - Google Drive

Are there any way, can I fix this issue?

    Hi,

Right now MathML equation in FM 12 are PNG images which are not searchable in PDF. As Arnis has suggested an EPS image could be searchable in PDF. We will take this as an enhancement request.

    Hi Kunal,

Thank you. "We will take this as an enhancement request." Is that already taken or will you wait for the number of request from users forum?

Let us assume, I generate MathML as EPS using Equation Composer (Design Science) before import the XML in FM, and then import XML along with EPS graphics. What would be the suggested way to approach base align of every EPS along with text in terms of both Display and Inline equations?

    Sarankap,

Did you install the full version of MathFlow from Design Science or are you just using the trial version supplied with FM12?

FWIW, I've strongly suggested to product management that the MathFlow issue be looked at to ensure that all of the capabilities that Design Science advertises also are available from within FM.

Check your settings when in the MahFlow module. It can output either in raster format (PNG or GIF) or vector (PDF, EPS; SVG is also supposed to be available some time soon). IIRC, by default it uses raster.

    Hi,

We largely uses Equation Composer in InDesign, but external tool, to product MahtML to EPS, and them EPS imported in InDesign. Since, FrameMaker officially embeded the Equation Composer to work with MathML, we tried to use FM for MathML product. Unfortunately, FM does not provide all options that are originally available in Equation composer.

For example, the below options are available in Equation Composer, but other than -pointsize none of them are available.

    -breakwidth

    -imagename

    -imagetype

    -pointsize

    -fontconfig

I really need searchable PDF from FrameMaker.

I'll ping the FM engineers on this. Unfortunately, my trial license for MathFlow has expired and I can't check into this any further.
