MathML inline equations are NOT presenting as inline

We use inline MathML equations in some of our DITA topics. Up until recently (I switched computers but set up the same environment in FrameMaker and Distiller), the inline equations appeared inline. Now, they appear below the line with the insertion point.

Is there a setting I missed?

Any help appreciated. I've attached 2 image files showing the same content in the published (working) copy and the most recently generated version.

We're going from FrameMaker 2020 (16.0.3) to PDF.

Help, please. This just doesn't make sense to me and I'm now just repeating searches I've already done twice to find the culprit.
