Question

my fonts have fallen and they can't get up!

I'm using Frame 7.0 on Windows XP. I know I have too many fonts on my font list, but they used to all display. Now the font flyout has dropped at least an inch from where it used to be and the fonts I use the most are offscreen where I can't see to select them. I know the simple answer would be to get rid of fonts that aren't used often so everything would fit again, but I'd like to know the solution to this problem.

    No, the problem is that the fonts DID all show, and now they don't. The flyout that shows the font has dropped lower on the screen than it used to and this has forced some of the fonts (conveniently the ones I use the most) off the side of the screen. I still have a use for the flyout window as it is still the quickest method for me to change a font from one side to the opposite end of the spectrum while at the same time checking to see exactly which font is being used. I have to do this frequently when dealing with files that need to use a cyrillic font.

    Thanks for the suggestion, that's a good alternative. However, I'd still like to solve the problem just for the sake of knowing the answer.

    That is the solution. Format > Font shows one screen worth of fonts, a
    limitation that was probably reasonable under Windows 95, but which
    doesn't make much sense these days. AFAIK there is no way to get it to
    show you more. I just checked, and I can see Adobe Caslon through ITC
    Berkeley. Oddly, you can choose fonts that are offscreen by pressing
    letter keys (P gets me Palatino) followed by enter. I stopped using
    Format > Font about 15 years ago.

    You can also choose fonts through the Formatting Bar (View > Formatting
    Bar).

    Use Character Designer (CTRL D). "Too many fonts" in XP is a number I
    haven't found yet. I've got over a thousand loaded now with no problems
    (except FM's display of them).
