Hello,

I am working on DITA topics in structured frame maker 11. Is there any option to insert text in a graphic frame? I don’t think so we can insert a text frame manually, correct me if am wrong.

I need a text frame that should be aligned centre.

Could anyone help me from this issue.

Thank you,

Harsha...

Hi Harsha...

This is not possible using the default FM-DITA support. It would require the development of a custom plugin, as well as some fancy DITA tagging. DITA has no concept of text frames or other types of overlay objects placed over an image.

If you add these objects while the file is open in FrameMaker, they will be lost when saved.

DITA-FMx does support this to some degree, but it's rather experimental.

In general, the proper "DITA" method for handling callouts or annotations over images is to add those to the image itself using a program like Illustrator that lets you manage text and images in the same file. You might also experiment with SVG, but that has its own set of problems.
