New to FM - How to Make HTML

I'd say start with the FM help itself, there's  a section about HTML conversion in there. I think some of the third-party books about FM have example files and  sections about outputting HTML, that might be a good place to start,  especially having some example files to work with before you tackle your  own files.

The basic idea is that in FM you set up "mappings" that specify, for each FM paragraph tag, what HTML tag should be output. e.g. if in your FM document you have paratag "Heading 1" then it should probably be mapped to "H1" in HTML.  There's a huge amount more to know, of course, like whether your HTML documents will be using Cascading Style Sheets ("CSS") to specify  additional formatting features when the HTML is displayed. And what the intended usage of the HTML will be (e.g. for HTML Help files, or for displaying on a website), and how you need to have the files divided into separate HTML files.  It could be that your original Publisher files had most of this already set up for you, so it would be a matter of trying to extrapolate how the output from Publisher corresponds with FM's way of doing it. But figuring this out would be a tall order especially if you don't know HTML at all to start with.

and I see them fairly often at places like HalfPrice Books etc.

There's also the Adobe FrameMaker "Classroom in a Book" (even though it's for FM 7, I think it would still be 99% useful for FM8).

You might also find that having an online session with an FM trainer might get you at least started in the right direction; there are a couple of folks on the forum here who offer FM training.
