Question

One TOC link in PDF not working

Hello,
I am using FM 2020 version 16.0.4.1062 and have created a PDF of my non-structured document.

When I went to the TOC to test the links, all of them work except for one.

I don't know where to look to find information about the issue or how to fix the issue.

Please help.

Thank you.

The usual culprit is that the source text "Ambient and Junction Temperatures" has a Character Format (or override) in it, and the ToC (as is typical)  has that ƒormat in its Character Catalog. Any change in mark-up tend to break the scope of a hyperlink.

    The fixes might include:

    • Remove the Character Format from the TOC.
    • Find another way to implement the text decoration at the source (classically, replace a now-ancient format hack with a Unicode character that does it natively)

Please post a screenshot of the TOC, showing the entry that's not working. Does it work in FrameMaker? Try Control+Alt+Clicking on the entry in FrameMaker.

Is the "bad" one a cross-reference or hyperlink? Anything different about it vs. one that works? Does it behave in the source FM doc?

    I believe it’s a hyperlink.

I’m not sure where I should be looking to find information and answers to your other questions.

Is the "bad" link in the TOC or in one of the FM docs?
