Open with on Windows 10 shows the same details for 2019 and 2020

Hi all,

On one Windows 10 computer, which just happens to be my Visual Studio development system, I have both FrameMaker 2019 and 2020 installed. When I right mouse click in File Explorer and choose Open with, the two FrameMaker options are identical, as shown below.

As identified the top choice is actually 2020.

The registry entry for .fm, shows what I would expect to see, as shown below.

The FM16.FrameMaker.Document classid points to 2020 as expected, and is proven by clicking on the top entry from Open with.

The Open with menu has the correct details on another identical Windows 10 computer where I just installed the same 2020 package, as shown below.

On my main development computer, also Windows 10, where I have installed and uninstalled various versions of 2020, and now installed 2022, the Open with details are perfect!

I have tried resetting the icon and thumbnail caches as discussed in these two articles:

How to reset the icon cache database on Windows 10 | Windows Central

Windows 10 thumbnails all messed up? Here's how to fix it! | Windows Central

This made no difference. While I can simply uninstall either or both versions, to hopefully resolve this, or just put up with it 😥, it would be nice to see if there is another way to fix this.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Jon

Never seen that one before - but I always launch the program first & then select the doc or book after from within, so messed up file associations don't really impact me.
