Question

Override Formats when Importing from another File

Hi,

I am working on cleaning up some source documentation that many different people have worked on. As a result of the many different authors the paragraph catalog has gotten quite bloated with a lot of paragraph formats that are not used anywhere in the entire book.

I'd like to remove the unused ones and then rename some of them to be more useful names. I know how to do it in one file and then import the formats into another file...however, when I import it simply merges the catalogs rather than completely replacing the catalog in the target document.

Does anyone know how I can make all my paragraph catalogs consistent across all documents in the book without having to manually remove all the unused ones in each document?

Thanks!

    Erin:

For cleaning unused paragraph or character styles out of FrameMaker documents, I use the Paragraph Tools and Character Tools plugins listed on this page:

    http://www.siliconprairiesoftware.com/Products.html

Insofar as the plugins cost a whopping US$10 each, they paid for themselves after the first five minutes of use...

    Cheers & hope this helps,
