Paragraph tags in status bar window

My laptop just crashed and I am in the process of setting up Framemaker 9 on my desktop and then on the new laptop. Previously, when I pressed F9 to enter a paragraph tag, a window opened in the status bar. Now, the entire list of tags appears as a pop-up.

The problem is that I used to be able to enter bu for bulleted. Now I have to go through the full list of b's to get to it.

Anyone know how to set it like in previous Framemaker versions?

    Susan,

Are you fully patched to the latest version (9.0p255) a.k. 9.0.4? You have to apply all of the patches in order - Adobe's patches are not cumulative

The type/match feature works (most of the time) with the later patches and you also have the option using the pick list.

    Hi Arnis -

Apparently I wasn't properly patched. I think I have them all now because

when I do Help > Update, I am told there are no more patches.

And, you are correct, the feature for which I was looking is now available.

I do know it is a bit buggy. I have solved the problem with File >

Preferences > Interface. I switch back and for between Tooltips = Fast and

Tooltips = Hidden. Do you know a better way?

Many's the time I long for the solid performance of V7.1 and earlier. I

wonder if they really did make it easier for new users. Anyway, I like

enough of the V9 features to have stayed with it, problems and all.

    Thanks so much.
