Question

PDF will not play embedded video file (.flv)

I'm not sure what I've done wrong. I viewed several tutorials, and it seems pretty basic on how to embed a video file into FM 12, but it is not working for me in the PDF. The steps I have taken are: (1) Import .flv file; (2) Name video; (3) Insert play/pause links to graphic; and (4) save as, and alternatively, printed to PDF. When the PDF generates, the video is just a graphic and the links I inserted take me to my browser's home page instead of opening a video player. Can anyone tell me what I may have missed or done wrong? Also, after the PDF generates, FM freezes (blue spinning circle, FM "not responding). Not sure why that is happening...

Thanks in advance!

Sarah

    Hi Sarah,

    Couple of things to verify:

    1. You should save as pdf and not use print to pdf for this functionality to work i.e. for the video to be active in pdf

    2. Pls check that all checkboxes under Edit->Preferences->General->Embed in PDF are turned on

    Thanks,

Thanks Anchal. I turned all of the preferences on and am saving as PDF, and I am still having the same issue. It occurs to me that this feature may not be helpful anyway - even if I were able to get the video to play from the PDF, could someone else do so when viewing the PDF from the internet?

Also, every time I pdf the file containing the video, FrameMaker freezes. I have to force it to close then reset all of the locks in the .fm files. Is this an issue with my hardware or with FM?
