Preparing document for printshop

I need to prepare a document to be sent to printshop for printing and I have a few problems.

The printshop is requiring "cuts and bleeds" and all I can find in FM9 is registration marks. I can get the registration marks to work on a direct print from FM, but when I generate the PDF the marks are gone.

The printshop also need color information to be used to verify that they use the correct colors when printing. Is this available in FM?

Any advice?

    Patrik,

I do not know if this is the best way to do it, but you can add the registration marks, trim marks, bleed marks, and color bars in Acrobat itself. After creating your PDF from Framemaker, open it in Acrobat. You can add the marks by selecting Advanced > Print Production > Add printer marks. Acrobat will warn you that the page size is not right. In Advanced > Print Production > Crop Pages. Change the page size to something larger. Then select Crop Pages again and remove the white margins.

Note that the above is from my playing in Acrobat. So, read the online help to get a better understanding.

From what I've read (I don't do it myself), you'll have to pick a page size larger than what the document actually is to see those registration marks in the PDF.

Color is reputed not to be one of FM's specialties. There are lot's of posts complaining about the CMYK output to PDF from FM.
