Printed document only shows edits?

Hello all, this is my first post. I am not a user of Framemaker so I apoligise for my lack of framemaker knowledge. I have a user that when he prints a file, it will only print the markups and not the actual text. We can print the file just fine on another computer. Is there some sort of setting we missed? Thanks in advance!

Separations? hummmm....... I have a screen shot now, could you see if that maybe the cause? Thanks!

Jason,

Please share a little more information:

• FrameMaker version (see Help > About FrameMaker)?

• Operating System?

• Did you print from FrameMaker or did you print a PDF generated from FM?

• If printed directly: What kind of printer using what kind of driver (PostScript?)?

• If printing a PDF: What method was used to create/print it?

IMO printing directly from FrameMaker is not recommended. Not because of FrameMaker, but in the end you usually have to deliver PDF documents and therefore it is a good idea to always create a PDF in case you want to print something. This helps to spot PDF creation problems early and not minutes before the deadline.

Hi Michael, thanks for your reply.

We are using Framemaker 10

Windows XP   - file printed fine on a Windows 7 PC (FM10)

We were attempting to print from Framemaker

Printer is a Xerox Docucolor 252 with a postscript driver

Im not sure the method used for creating a PDF.

There really is no need for a pdf at the moment. The documents they are creating and editing must be printed out so our "subject matter experts" can review them (they aren't fans of digital copies) and then the editor can go back and make changes. So I guess the format it prints to doesnt matter as long as the actual text shows up. What I dont get is that it prints fine on 1 machine and not the other.

I do not know what you mean by the above. If one edits a FrameMaker file and prints it, the printed copy should show all the content, not just the changes. I think you need to provide more information.
