Problem importing Captivate into FrameMaker

Using FM 10 Captivate 5 in TCS3, when I import the.swf into FrameMaker document, I only see the skin, not the actual demo. It appears as a blank square inside the skin. To import, I used File/Adobe Captivate/Insert Adobe Captivate Demo in FM. What am I doing wrong here?

Eureka! I believe my problem is solved.

    1. I added a "Poster" (Right click on the demo in FM and select Add Poster) which is displayed for the first frame in FM.
    2. I was creating PDFs using File > Print Book, and the Adobe PDF printer to make .ps files and then run those thru the distiller to make the PDF. (A practice we've used since the early versions of FrameMaker.) But, when I used this method the Captivate demo would not run in the PDF. However, using the Save as PDF method worked and the Captivate demo runs in the PDF!

Now to see how it works in RoboHelp...

Have you tried to place the same SWF directly in Acrobat, as a way to double check the movie?

Depending on your Captivate version and/or publish settings (specifically "Externalize Resources"), it is possible that multiple SWFs are produced, with one of them being the skin. When displayed through the HTML generated by Captivated, the multiple SWFs generated are displayed as a single movie, but importing into Acrobat/FrameMaker won't produce the same result.

Yes, I published the video directly to PDF and it plays fine. I do not see two .swf files created in Captivate 5 (one for the skin) as I did in version 3, so I am certain that I am selecting the correct .swf to import into FM.

    Indy,

FrameMaker can not play Flash movies. Save as PDF and check the result.

There is a setting in File > Preferences > General whether SWF data should be included into a PDF, it is On by default.

Michael, thank you. I tried this - twice - but in the PDF it is also just displaying the skin, no demo. The setting in Preferences/General is checked, as you indicated it would be.

What O/S are you running? Sometimes 64 bit versions don't use the correct version of Flash player.
