Question

Publishing DHTML from FrameMaker

Hi All. I'm using FramemMaker 16 and publishing topics directly from Frame to Responsive HTML. This seems like a very basic question, but isn't really answered clearly in the Adobe help. Will DHTML Effects (Drop-Down Caption & Body) work when publishing directly from Frame to Responsive HTML? If so, what are the steps/settings to make this work - over and above what's stated in the help (apply the effect to the para).

Thanks 🙂

On my machine, in Fm 16.0.2, using the Insert>Dynamic HTML Effects>Drop Down Caption and Insert>Dynamic HTML Effects>Drop Down Caption commands create and apply the needed paragraph tags, as you mentioned, but the corresponding drop downs do not process as they did in Fm 15.0.7. (oops, looks like I never installed the 15.0.8 update!)

Hopefully this is just a flag that's set up in an init file somewhere, but I don't know offhand where that setting resides.

Anyone else able to produce the DHTML effects?

On the bright side, I did find the location of the wonky +/- graphics used to produce the output (buried in the STS file, not visible until unzipping that file) so I can now switch them out if needed 🙂

Thanks Matt, appreciate the support. In FM15 there was a section in the Publish Settings (Style Mapping > General Settings) that allowed you to enable the effects and select open/colse images to use. In FM 16 that setting has now gone. I also found the twistyimage1 and twistyimage2 in the sts file (I think those are the ones you're referring to?) but they don't appear in the published HTML folders anywhere.

Yes, I see the same on my side.

So either

  • the feature is deprecated, and should be removed from the Insert menu, or
  • 2020 needs to have the Publish Settings>General Settings options re-enabled

I've created a Tracker bug report.
