Is Framemaker Publishing Server 12 the only option for publishing/managing tasks from the web, or is this possible via an API interface using any of the other products?

Hi Tiggy,

It is possible, but I think you run the risk of violating the license agreement. The regular FrameMaker includes full API support for automation of nearly anything, and with some clever code you should be able to invoke it from a webserver webapp. You would have to install your own webserver and build your own webapp.

It would be a somewhat complex process and may not be legal depending on how you use it. But I think it is entirely doable.

HI Russ - that's exactly what we've been doing then eventually realized it wasn't compliant with the license.  So we bought Server 11 never imagining there was nothing to speak of by way of an API and that it would put us essentially back at square zero.  Server 11 does come with a copy of Frame 11, so I wonder if the server is resident on the same box (doing nothing) and we used the Frame API like we did previously, we'd be compliant?  :-)
