question about bullets

Hello,

In a page, I have several paragraphs.

Each paragraph is made like this :

Title

Description

and before/after each paragraph I have a space.

I would like to select all the page, and create a tag that put a bullet only on the first line of each paragraph (title). How to set this tag ?

Hi Pierre:

I understand now.

You will need to create a new style for the bullets, but we can't make non-consecutive selections in FrameMaker, so you wo't be able to select all of the visible content to assign it. You will need to select every other paragraph and assign the new style.

If the goal is to assign the bullets more quickly, here's a trick that I use: I manually assign the bullet style to one paragraph, and then I use Edit > Copy Special > Paragraph Format to copy the paragraph style to the clipboard. Then I can just click on the other paragraphs and tap Ctrl+v to paste the style.

Hi Pierre:

That is a question for @frameexpert! Hopefully, he can swing by to let you know.

Very useful your advise to copy/paste paragraph format. It works perfectly.

And I understand my problem about the "titles" that are non consecutive between them.

Do you think a script could do that : by example : for a text made of 2 consecutive paragraph (title/description), the script put a bullet on the first paragraph only ?

Thank you for the mention Barb! Yes, this could be scripted. If you are interested, please message me so I can get a sample document to look at. Thank you very much.

Hi Barb,

All my text is in "Courant" in paragraph style (the "title" is not set as "title" in the paragraph style, but is set as "courant").

I would like to select all the text on this page, then click on a tag in order to put a bullet only at the red line on the screenshot :

Because actually I put a bullet on the first "title", then I do again on the second "title", etc ...

I would like to select all the text and do it in one go.

Hi Pierre:

I'm distilling this down to: how do I add a bullet in front of all the titles. Is that correct? (It's early here and screen shots are always helpful.)

If that is correct, click in a title. Paragraph Designer > Numbering > Autonumber Format: •\t. Update style and then set the tab stop in  Paragraph Designer > Basic.
