Question

Rollback from a patch

Is it possible to roll back from an FM12 patch?

For example, if I install 12.0.4 on 12.0.3, then decide I do not like it because it breaks something that I need, can I roll back to 12.0.3?

Or if not roll back, can I accomplish the same goal by installing 12.0.3 on top of 12.0.4?

Got the general idea?

Best,

    I think the only way to roll back a patch would be if it was separately listed in your Add/Remove Programs list. If not, then you’re stuck deactivating, uninstalling & reinstalling in stages.

    Unfortunately, not as far as I know - the modules are replaced and no backups of the replaced modules get stored anywhere. FM won't install an older patch over a new version, so you'll need to go back to square one and re-install FM and the number 2 and 3 patches.

    What got broken with the patch? [Patches usually fix things...] The engineering team needs to know about these sorts of things that go bump in the night (i.e. unintended consequences), so the more details that you can provide, the better.

    @Arnis Gubins,

    Thanks.

    I don't know if the patch breaks something.  That's why I'm asking about rollback.

    Reinstall doesn't sound horrible as long as the registry stays clean. Of course keeping the registry clean might require a sunrise from the west.
