Saving templates for use with earlier versions of Frame

Hi all,

 

We have a number of writers still on Frame 11 and we have inherited some templates created by someone who has since left the company. They used FrameMaker 2017 (I think) to create the templates.

 

My question is, if I buy a Frame 2019 license, can I modify and save these templates in a format that can be used by the Frame 11 users. Unfortunately there is no motivation to upgrade these users to a later version at this time 😞

    The usual response to "backwards compatibility" questions is, save your .fm file as a .mif file. When you open the .mif file in an earlier version, FrameMaker will – as Rick reminded me not so long ago ;-} – simply discard anything that version doesn't know about. I think this should do the trick; more knowledgeable contributors to the forum will put you right if I've misled you.
