Scaling PDF with Publish dialog box

I would like to use File>Publish to print PDFs, but I am unclear where you can access the options similar to those available from File>Print. Specifically, I need to adjust Scale. Is this possible using the Publish feature?

    Hi @default5zqyuolh1bed:

I can't find a way to do it via the Publish pod (or via a .joboptions file).

You can scale the PDF post-export using the Preflight panel.

You could log this as a FrameMaker feature request: https://tracker.adobe.com/#/home

    @default5zqyuolh1bed:

Here's one more idea: you can define Actions in Acrobat (like macros in Word) that can perform multiple listed tasks, and run them on a open file, all open files or the contents of a folder. That might be helpful in this situation.

Thank you, Barb. The Preflight actually solves a different process issue I was invesigating, so this is helpful.

    «I need to adjust Scale»

Hi "Default", is this the scaling when the file is opened in Acrobat? This could be set in the Settings:

    • In Publish panel select PDF,
    • Select the appropriate Settings file
    • Click the button at right. There select edit.

    • Select the desired zoom level from the drop down list
    • You may wish to save this STS file with a new name. It will be saved to %appdata%\Adobe\FrameMaker\vv\ (vv is the current FM version, e.g 15 or 16).

Thank you for trying to help. No, I am not trying to adjust the zoom. I am trying adjust the resulting page size of the PDF output. I can do this on the Print Document dialog box using the Scale field.

I had hoped that this would be something accomplished in the Publish dialog box. At issue is that different writers will forget settings to use for printing, and I had hoped that the Publish settings file could help with this issue. I would like to be able to roll out a settings file that has the proper information for 1) Scale, 2) paragraphs to bookmark, 3) paper size. Currently, we are having to set these items by using them in scattered multiple dialog boxes (Print Book/Document, PDF Setup, Adobe PDF Document Properties) and it makes it difficult to standardize output. Also, some of the dialog boxes have the same fields and the documentation is poor as to the hierarchy of which dialog box settings will be prioritized over another.

    Hi,

At the moment I do not have access to FrameMaker. Therefore I cannot check all options.

I have activated the Publish option to use Distiller for PDF generation. Then the option to fit the page to the window size does not work.

When the option is deactivated, this works.

    Best regards
