Question

special chars in autonumbering strings

Hello, I am using an em dash to separate my figure and table title numbers from their descriptions, e.g., Figure 5.3---Folder Creation Dialog (where the three hyphens represents an em dash). The problem is that I need to get this em dash into the autonumbering string so that it can be ignored by RoboHelp when I import it into my RoboHelp project (Technical Communications Suite). I am not able to locate the information that tells me how to do this. How to do this with the bullet character is discussed in the Guide, but I see no discussion of other characters, such as the em dash. I was wondering if anyone here might know. Any assistance you could offer would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Z.

Em dash is \m in dialogs (like Autonumber or Find/Change), but you can
type (ALT 0151) or paste characters into dialogs as well.
