Spellchecker not working in FM 12

Spellchecker in FM12 does not find multiple spaces, the word "adn", accept possesives such as "John's" and more.  When is a fix expected?

Thanks Arnis.  The changes were made in the book.  Looks like I have a corrupted FM install.

Getting a new Dell computer in 2 weeks so hopefully reinstalling FM on it will fix the problem.

All English docs and imported from FrameMaker 10. Originals written in FM 9 years ago. No problems ever.

Opened other chapters and typed "adn". FM did not flag it or find it when I ran the checker. Opened a New Portrait doc and tried the same thing with the same disappointing results.

By any chance has "adn" ever been inadvertently added to the Personal dictionary? Other than having a language setting of None in either a paratag or character tag, that would be the only other reason that I can think of that FM wouldn't pick up on that.

It finds it just fine in any of my FM12 docs:

(Looks like the Forums are down - probably due to Heartbleed. )

No, “and” is not in my dictionary. Just to make sure, I “unlearned” the word but it made no difference.

To make matters worse, I just changed the name of one of the chapters in the book like I always do and all the cross-references broke. I am looking at going back to FM 10 now.

(I will post this to the forum when it is back up.)

Yes, I am patched up to the latest (12.0.1.133).  I've configured my spellcheck options the same as I was using in FM 10 where I had no such problems. I did the rechecking option but spellchecker still skipped the errors.  Using English. Auto is inabled and the error marking works on other words but not these. In my 20+ years of using FrameMaker, I've never seen anything like this. And while Adobe doesn't help users with problems, they sometimes do look in on the forums and drop hints. So I hope.

Have you checked that the paragraphs containing the errors (or if the words are charcter tagged and) have English set as the language?

Is the content created in FM or imported from another source like Word?

Are the errors repeatable, i.e. can you explicitly make those and FM still doesn't find them?

AFAIK, the Spell Checker hasn't been touched since FM10 (except for adding in the Hunspell dictionaries) so the behaviour should be as before. There also haven't been any reports of problems with FM12 spell-checking so far. Have you tried a MIF-wash of the document(s) in case there is some cruft in the files?

Works for me. Which version of FM12 are you using? Have you configured all of your spell-check options? Have you enabled "Mark All Paragraphs for Rechecking"? Which language dictionary are you using? Do you have "Auto Spell Check" enabled and is that showing any of the errors (red or green squiggly lines under errors)?

First, are you all patched up already? Second, this is a user-to-user forum – don’t expect Adobe pronouncements here ;>)
