Subscript characters not carrying forward into generated lists....

Hi folks,
Using Framemaker 17.0.2.431 (latest version), structured.
The subject publications contain numerous instances of subscript content, applied by wrapping in an element. Problem is, none of this content is captured in my generated lists (TOC, LOF, LOT). It all presents as upper case vice subscript. Yes, I can apply subscript directly to the list items in Frame, but when I do *whoosh* goes most of the hyperlink(s). Presumably, I'll then have to post-process the PDF and 'extend' what's left of the affected links in Acrobat Pro.
Is there a more elegant way to do this? I've tried unwrapping and applying character tags in lieu, but this approach fails to fix the issue at the authoring level.

Are you doing the subscripts as:
a. native Unicode subscripts (₀ ₁ ₂ ₃ ₄ ₅ ₆ ₇ ₈ ₉ ₊ ₋ ₙ)
b. normal Latin characters with <Subscript> Character Format applied
c. normal Latin characters with Format ▼ Style » Subscript overrides?

There are generated file & Xref implications for each approach.

On the problem:
☐ characters not appearing at all in list?
☐ characters appearing, but not subscripted?

☐ characters appearing, but breaking hypertext of string?

With the screenshots now available, it appears that the problem is that the ‹high.subscript› Character Format does not exist in the generated .fm file. By getting in there, the V_MCG should appear as intended in the generated file.

However, the automatic cross-reference for that string will break at MCG. This is long-standing FM behavior not easy for Adobe to re-cast at this point (having to do with how the end of a hypertext range is auto-determined when there's only an insertion point to work with).

And … doing the V_MCG without needing a CharFmt is not an option, because Unicode's repertoire of natively subscripted glyphs does not include any capital Latin letters.

I've used various hacks to work around this in the past, none elegant, and some possibly not available in structured.
