Suffix Rules based on Autonumbering Value

Structured FM (17.0.4.628)

I have an Element with a text format rule that applies autonumbering. Is there a way to 'read' the autonumbering value and apply a suffix rule based on the value? E.g. if the autonumbering value is 1, 8, 15, apply the suffix "Alpha", if the autonumbering value is 2, 9, 26, apply the suffix "Beta", etc. Is this possible without the use of scripts?

    BTW, FrameMaker's EDD feature is at least 30 years old and was way ahead of its time. It would be fantastic if it was updated to use XPath expressions in its rules! Then the original poster's request could be accomplished.

    Darn - I suspected that I might be trying to achieve the impossible.  Perhaps something I can achieve with FrameSLT - I just have to run it everytime the numbering changes.

    Perhaps, but I'd expect the COUNT function to perform the same

    Dig through the AllContext Formatting Rules and ContextRule chapters in your  FrameMaker Structured EDD Development workbook. (chapters 10 and 11 in the Fm 2020 version)
    Those chapters show how to manage your numbering via the EDD, rather than the paragraph designer.
