Table in a Side Head

Hello ,

I have created a Side Head and placed some tables in them. Each table is preceded by a heading.

I have added text and graphics in the column.

I can edit everything in the column and the headings in the Side Head, but not the tables.

Does anyone have any idea why this is the case?

NB. I can edit a table that I have just created, but as soon as I click out I can no longer edit the table contents.

What FM version and platform.

What you are doing works fine on FM7.1/Solaris. So it sounds like it might be a bug in your version.

Work-around hack:

Put the tables on Reference Pages, where you can edit them.

Bring them into the Side Head flow as Xrefs.

I'm on W7 using FM11. Curse this subscription malarky.

How do I x-ref a whole table onto a body page?

You can't, per se (Xref directly to table).

Two choices:

  1. You can do it cell-by-cell, from the RP table to the SH table. This runs the risk that if you discover an error later, or need to alter rows/columns/xrefs, you can't, given your bug.

  2. You can xref the anchoring para on the RP. This could get a bit tricky if it's a Heading that is included in any generated content. You might need to resort to using a run-in para type so that the RP anchor para is otherwise empty, but, as an xref, doesn't cause an extra line in the SH.
