Question

text disappears off last page; cannot add page break on last page

Hi,

I'm using Frame 7.2 on Windows XP and my current manual just started exhibiting this behavior. I checked my temaplte and it's OK.

I cannot add a page break on the last page or the next to last one. The heading on the last page has a Top of Page setting but will not pop to the top of the page.  If I start above any text on the last page and keep pressing the Enter key, the text flows off the bottom of the page and disappears.

I tried adding a disconnected page at the end and then connecting the last two but that does not help. I checked all the master pages and they all show Flow: A, connected. I even exported the file to MIF and reopened the MIF file but the problem remained.

I did get this undecipherable error when opening the MIF file:

"C:\...\93-0908-0-mifwash.mif" (45958): Value of FDY out of range (1399.81).

When I tried inserting a page break on the next to last page, the screen flickered and the paragraph marker was inserted atop the last page.

I looked through the forum and did not find anything quite like my problem so I posted it here.

Any suggestions?

Confusedly yours,

Michael F

What does

Format > Page Layout > Master Page Usage

say about that last page?

It's behaving like it's a disconnected flow.

And when you click in any of the paragraphs, is Flow A shown at bottom left?

A floating rogue text frame can do this, but there are other possibilities as well.

Error,

Master Page Usage shows:

Custom: Last Page (as expected)

Apply to:

x Current page (175)

x Even    x Odd

The paragraphs all show Flow A and all of a sudden, the heading on the last page is now at the top!

I just went to the previous page and was able to insert a proper page break.

It looks like the problem mysteriously disappeared. I hate it when that happens. Now I don't know what caused the problem.

I'll keep my eyes out for anything that's not in Flow A.

Thanks for the tips.

Yours,

Michael F
