text line tool issues with online publication

Hi I am using the text line tool in Framemaker to display callouts for graphics. The output displays okay in PDF. However, when I use the publication option for webhelp and HTML5, the text is truncated and only the first letter is displayed. Not sure what's happening?

I've tried updating the mapping style, but this does not help. I am using FrameMaker 12 (part of the Adobe Communications Suite)

Any suggestions?

I still have not been able to resolve this issue and have wasted time trying different solutions.

Surely something as basic as producing graphic text call-outs should be supported without any problems in online/web publication output.

Warren,

Do you have the "Use Distiller to Generate Image" option enabled in your conversion settings?

Is your text line entirely within a single anchored frame?

Otherwise, text line conversions work just fine on my installations.

Hi Arnis,

Thanks for the suggestions. To answer, yes to both. I contacted Adobe IT support and they managed to come up with a temporary fix. My callouts were using the Calibri front, and there appears to be a problem with conversion of this font. If the caption font is in ALL-CAPS the conversion works. Strange.

The other suggestion was to change the font, and use something like Times New Roman.

Times New Roman is not part of our brand guidelines, so I may try using a number of different fonts and see if this has an affect.

So, underlying issue may be either my system fonts, or something in the Adobe font setup. That issue still needs to be resolved.

Apart what appears to be a workflow bug, using the text line tool (aka graphics text) is inadvisable for a long list of reasons.

Until and unless you get a fix for the immediate problem, use ordinary text in Text Frames in the anchored frame containing the graphic.

I did try this option too - using the text frame option, within the anchored frame. Unfortunately, I still get the same problem!

What are the Run-Around properties of the underlying graphic?

It needs to be "Don't Run-Around", or various odd things can result, one of which might be your problem.
