Question

The file-size is not a multiple of 1 KB

Was not able to open FrameMaker file (version 3) with FrameMaker version 10.

I got a message like "The size is not a multiple of 1 KB. The file appears to be corrupted...".

I'm able to open other files with the same version. But they look like they have a correct file-size.

How can I repair this file. (No backup available).

You might find someone with an earlier version of Frame who could open it, save it as MIF, and give you the MIF.

In this connection, when closing out a project, it's always a sound idea to re-save all the files in whatever open and/or interchange formats are available. In the case of Frame, that would be MIF.

I probably still have FM 3.1 on floppies in the basement, but I expect I'd have to build a Windows 3.1 PC to get it to load and run.

Thanks for your response.

I also have version 7 where I get the same error messages. I'm abel to open hundreds of old (verson 3) files with FM version 7 and 10 without problems. Only a handfull FrameMaker files (version 3) cause this problem with the file-size. I assume that FM version 3 would also have this problem to open this files. If there is no other solution to repair this files, I probable have to rewrite this files.

Maybe the "heroic open" command will work. Open a new, empty FrameMaker

file. Then type Esc o H and a dialog should appear to let you open the

bad file, while ignoring warnings. More details are in the following

Thanks for your response.

With the "heroic open" I got a window to select the file. Then I tried to open it => FM crashed.

The error messages: Internal error 10024, 6325954, 6329498, 6360905. FrameMaker encountered a serious problem and has to shut down.

Any other ideas?
