TOC links map to different pages

Hi,

I am working with adobe framemaker 9. The problem I am facing is that, after generating the TOC some links are working fine but few other links are making me navigate to wrong pages in the generated PDF. However, when I cross checked it with the TOC FM file by CTRL+ALT the links map correctly.

Is it the framemaker issue or something is wrong with the PDF printer settings? Please find below snapshot of the PDF, just after clicking on a particular topic it shows a black box and takes me to the wrong page.

Any help with this is appreciated...

    It looks like you have some sort of link area there in the PDF. If you turn on the Links tool in Acrobat, you should see the link area outlines. If you select that one, you can get the properties to see where the link is specified to. This may give you a clue as how it was inserted. Check the FM file to see if there is a background item on the Body or Master page.

    Hi Arnis,

    I checked the FM body and master pages... there is no background item on which links have been defined. Could you suggest any other workaround?

    The PDF settings won't mangle any links (but they can affect other features such as colours and fonts).

    Check the links out in Acrobat. Turn on the Links option to see where the linked areas are (they will be rectangular outlines).

    Right-click on the "incorrect" ones and select Properties (ctrl+ I). [Also try moving the link by dragging to see if there is another link underneath]

    Select the Actions tab and then click on the Edit button.

    This will then display the activity for the action. Typically, it will be a "go to" of some kind for a hypertext link.

    If it shows a named destination with a cryptic code such as "G1011352" or "G2.34567", then it will in all likelihood be a FM generated link.

    You will have to track this down in FM. Turn on your View > Borders and View > Text Symbols so that you can see all items.

    Check your View > Color > Views... settings to see if you have any colours defined to be "invisible". If so, move them to the "Normal" column.

    Do a "Select All" (click outside of the text column and press ctrl+A) on the page to see if there are any objects that shouldn't be there (check both the Body and Master pages).
