TOC not nesting properly when publishing to HTML5

When publishing my book to HTML5, the first 3 chapters of the book publish correctly in the left pane in HTML 5 generated output.  However, the remaining chapters all populate nested under the 3rd chapter (see below). How do I solve this?

  • Chapter 1
    • Sub section
  • Chapter 2
  • Chapter 3
    • Sub section
      • Chapter 4
        • Sub section
          • Chapter 5

I am using groups in my book.

Yes, the TOC is a generated file.

So does the group structure correspond to the inconsistencies in the TOC in the HTML5?

If yes, remove the group structure to see if it remedies the problem.

Groups can have special settings like templates and numbering, so you can also check those control mechanisms if you're not able to simplify the structure of the book.

sorry matt...i can't do that as all my stuff is on a mil-network that prohibits/prevents me from doing that.  best i can do is use bullets...

    FM Book...

    • Folder 1 (chapter 1)
      • FMdoc1-1 (topic1-1)
      • FMdoc1-2 (topic1-2
      • ...
    • Folder2 (chapter2)
      • FMdoc2-1 (topic2-1)
      • FMdoc2-2 (topic2-2)
      • ...
    • ...
    • FolderX (chapterX)
      • FMdoc X-1 (topicX-1)
      • FMdocX-2 (topicX-2)

    PDF output TOC  (looking goo)

    • Chapter1
      • Topic1-1
      • Topic1-2
    • Chapter2
      • Topic2-1
      • Topic2-2
    • ...
    • ChapterX
      • TopicX-1
      • TopicX-2

    HTML5 TOC output

    • Chapter1
      • topic1-1
      • topic1-2
      • Chapter2
        • topic2-1
        • topic2-2
        • ChapterX
          • topicX-1
          • topicX-2

sorry for the lack of pictures...it's the best i can do with the restrictions i'm under...

I understand. Without the visuals, my best advice is to rebuild your book without the grouping structures or at least simplify your book or a test book to see if it processes properly. The grouping and folder structures probably don't add enough value to figure out a workaround.

taking a chance this thread is still monitored...

i am experiencing some very similar to this problem.  Using the original problem description/diagram, all of the levels folowing Chapter1 are indenting again and again (none of the indents reset to a 'baseline' left indent of zero).  it looks like this...

    • Chapter1
      • subsection
      • subsection
      • Chapter2
        • subsection
        • subsection
        • Chapter3
          • subsection
          • subsection

    ...FM Book TOC looks great

...all styles are applied correctly in each of the documents

...using Folders to organize the book's chapters and documents

Can you post a screenshot of your book file?

Is the paragraph style applied to Chapter 4 the same as for Chapters 1-3?

Unfortunately, I am unable to post a screen shot.

However the paragraph style is applied to all chapters the same.

Are you using groups or folders in your book?

Is the TOC for the book a different icon than the others? (Is the TOC a generated file?)
