Hi all. Is it possible to track changes in a FM book with tracking bars that then appear in a PDF output?

Cheers -- John

Change bars also do not appear when text format is only changed, such as font, nor when graphics are changed.

They may also not appear if text is only deleted.

Good point. I'm actually using both tracking bars and "enabled" text changes. Tracking font changes would be helpful but not as critical for my current assignment. Th.

    Hi John,

Yes. You can use Tracking bars to track your changes:

You switch them on with Format | Document | Change bars.

However, these change bars do not appear, when you change something in a table.

The change bars are basically a character property.

Therefore I recommend Track Text Edits (Edit Track Text Edits). Easier with the Track Text Edits toolbar.

These Track Text Edits are conditions (which you will not notice).

Change bars do show up for changes made in tables, and they do show up if all you do is delete text. They even show up if you delete and retype a space.

    Hi Lin,

    Sorry. Yes. You are correct.

I had not used Change Bars for years, as they do not mark which text was changed.

I really prefer Track Text Edits.
