Truncated File Locations in Missing File Screen

Hi,

When opening FrameMaker files, the Missing Files screen appears. The file locations under Looking For: and Document Folders: are truncated. I've tried hovering over them, copying them, expanding the screen, and seeing if there is anything in Properties to view these.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Julianna

Hi Julianna, If you have a ton of paths to update, please take a look at my PathChanger script. It allows you to change the paths of cross-references, imported graphics, and text insets in bulk via Excel. Thanks.

You can find the file names and locations by generating a list of references.

    1. In the Book file choose Insert->List of->References
    2. Choos "Imported Graphics"
    3. This will generate a file with the comple URL's of the imported graphics. If you like, you can add other parameters like page number etc.

Open the MIF file in a text editor and search for the file name.

It's 2022. I don't think the files I'm looking for are there. So if I find one it might not fix the rest. This was done by a previous employee and I'm the only one that works in FrameMaker. It wouldn't be a problem if I could see the full location.

Can you see where in the FM file the reference is placed? Maybe saving to MIF might give you the whole (really long) filepath?

What version of FM? Usually when you find one of them, it fixes the rest if they are looking in the same folder.
