Hello, how can I put two seperate page numbers on each page. One of these page numbers will start from 1, and the other will be the regular book page number. Can you help me with this?

Correct answer FrameMaker-dk

What StudioSM suggests:

In the View menu select Master pages.

Then create a text frame (not connected to the main text frame). Click in this text frame and then set the autonumbering of this paragraph in the paragraph designer. The autonumbering should be <n+>.

When you return to the body pages view, this text frame will show the current page number.

I would have suggested this as well. However, when I just tested this, the autonumbering did _not_ count up with each page!

It does work - but you have to have the numbering paragraphs on the body pages. Empty numbered paragraphs. I did attach a fm file to my post but it vanished. Wonder whether the forum does not accept fm files...?

I think I would make one of the page numbers a numbered paragraph - not a # page number. Numbered paragraphs are easy  to control.

Thank you for your comment. But I couldn't figure out how to place numbered paragraphs on all pages. Normally, whatever page the paragraph is placed on is not displayed on that page?

Hi

In this example I have made a second text flow on the master pages. Used the Numbered and Numbered 1 paragraph styles for controlling the numbering. It is not super sophisticated and there are probably other smarter methods. But this will work also.
