Unwanted footer is generated

The headers and footers are added the master pages (View > Master Pages). You can have between 1-100 master pages, so if you want to remove repeating content go to the master pages and remove it there. If you don't see on the first master page, scroll down until you find it. Content removed from a master page will be immediately removed from any body pages assigned that master page. If you are new to FrameMaker and unsure what you are doing, work on a copy of the file until you figure it out and then go back and edit the original file.

Has your employer provided any way (books, classes, courses, training from peers) for you to learn about FrameMaker?

If a used Master Page has a footer, with content, it is going to render to the output (e.g. PDF), unless inhibited by any of several means:

1. tag that text with a color switched off in Color View for rendering (my usual approach)
2. tag that text with a Condition Code switched off for rendering
3. if there's a full-page background, send that footer frame to back
4. delete the footer frame on the Master Page
5. if there were only 4 ways, it wouldn't be FM☺

I use approach #1 for several things:

• turn navigation links on for PDF, and off for print renderings
• turn authoring info on for editting and off for rendering (project name, time stamps, MP name, filename, various metadata, things hidden on various MPs)
