Question

updating paragraph style

I have many files that are booked. I want ot change the font of 1 style to another font. The paragraph designer is grayed out in the book. If I bring up the paragraph designer in 1 file of the book and change the font it only changes that 1 file, not all in the book.

    Hi @mgustantino:

Styles are changed on a document-by-document basis. That's just how FrameMaker works.

Go ahead and update the style in one of your chapters. Then go to your book window, select the files that you want to receive the update, and use File > Import > Formats to import the Paragraph Formats into those selected documents.

NOTE: Please be aware that when you import formats from one document to another, you will replace the ones that are already there. That's good when you want to standardize the look across the chapters, but pay attention, because there might be chapters that you do not want to have updated. Also, if you only want to change the paragraph styles, be sure to uncheck all of the other categories.

But note that this will also import all the other paragraph styles as well. If there are differences between  other paragraph styles in the files, they will be imported too.
