Validated EDD Having Error in Test Document

Hi!

I am working on an EDD and when i validated it, it passed stating document is valid. However, when I imported it into my test document I am getting an error. In the Structured View, I am getting an <INVALID CONTENT> at the Graphic element.

I am confused why it is saying the document is valid but when imported and used I am getting an error.

As additional information, I put the Graphic element into a container which I am not sure is correct but I had a previous error and since it a general rule for a Section, I had to provide more information for the Graphic element.

I thank you in advance for your assistance with this question and hopefully a resolution.

Thanks,

Eddie

Eddie,

When you validate an EDD, FrameMaker tests the element structure of the EDD. It does not look at the content to see if it makes sense. For example, it does not parse general rules to confirm there are no syntax errors,

Please show us the error message and the definition of the Graphic element in your EDD.

In your Section General Rule, what is your Section requiring before you add a child Section?

Hi Eddie,  it sounds like your current test doc has stuff the EDD doesn't like.

Can you create a new doc and enter content that conforms to the EDD?

Hi Matt,

I have been tinkering with the EDD to see if I can correct the issue.

What I am hoping to achieve is having the option to have the page begin with either a anchored frame for a graphic or Section (for files that do not have anchored frame for beginning of page.

I have made the changes to get it to accept an anchored frame or section head but when i add the section below the anchored frame, I cannot write in it and the error is at the graphic element.

Can a graphic element be in a container? I am thinking that is the problem.

Thanks,

Eddie

I like to see a GRAPHIC element stored in something like Figure, so it can also have a Caption above or below, as needed.

* I like to see Caption above, as xrefs to Caption will jump to that place, pushing graphics out of view if they're below the GRAPHIC
