Two questions:

1. Is there anyway to import variables at the book level rather than having to open all of the files in the book?

2. Is there anyway to REPLACE one file's variable repository with another file's variable repository? Currently, we import variables from one file into all of the other applicable files, but that doesn't remove any variables that were deleted in the master file. We have to go through each file and remove the deleted variables from the variable repository in each affected file. If it were possible to just REPLACE the variable repository with that of the master file, we wouldn't have to manually remove deleted variables in all of the affected files.

    Two answers:

    1. In the book file, select all the component files. Do File > Import Formats, pick Variables and execute.

    2. Plug ins. The Clean Import or EzVars from Electropubs or BookVars from Leximation will do this. There may be others too...

    Hi,

I use Rick Quatro's FindChangeSpecial to change or delete variables

(and also paragraph/character/table formats, cross-reference definitions,

    conditions) globally. Work's very well.
