What makes a TextInset unresolved?

In my test files for FMfindRepl I have a Text Insert (gugus2.fm), which can no more be updated, because the inserted file has been renamed (!_gugus2.fm.!!!) for purpose.

IMHO this inset should be found by the standard Find dialogue (and FMfindRepl) as "Text Inset - unresoved".

But it is not. It is of course found with "Text Inset - Any".

Help states: If the name or location of the source file for a referenced text inset changes, the text inset is marked as unresolved in the Insets pod.

In my case the panel does not list any unresolved inset.

→ When does a text inset become unresoved?

Cross-references get checked when I document is opened or just before it is printed. Graphics are "checked" as you scroll through a document. I am pretty sure that text insets are checked like cross-references are.

MHM, during an open FM session the status of the Text Inset is not reported correctly. The status unresolved appears only after the file has been re-opened.

    1. Have a document open
    2. Insert a referenced Text Inset
    3. Change location or name of Text Inset
    4. Find "Text Inset - Unresolved" does not find it
    5. Save/close the document
    6. Open the document: you get notice that there is/are unresolved Text Insets
    7. Find "Text Inset - Unresolved" does find it; also reported in the panel Insets.

    Hi Klaus,

Possibly this is similar to cross-references. There you also have to update the cross-references so that FrameMaker notices this. At least I think so.
