When I click on New Script nothing happens

I am using the FM 2017 release and have installed the FDK2017 from the official website.

I open Framemaker, click on file-->script-->new script but nothing ever happens. I do not get a error message.

I have read these two threads that suggest to install the FDK, which I already have. I have tried reinstalling it to no effect.

I have installed FrameMaker 2017 and cannot run scripts

https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2314153?q=When%20I%20click%20on%20New%20Script%20nothing%20happens

I am using Win7 on a 64 Bit system.

Do you have any idea how I could solve this problem?

thank you in advance

Hi merty(andlotsofnumbers) ;-))

If you want to create an ExtendScript you need to install ESTK (not FDK).

These two threads you've mentioned, confirm this.

Unfortunately ESTK isn't installed automatically like in earlier versions.

To install it you have to go this way:

- open Adobe Creative Cloud

- click on default setting.

- change from "common" to "Creative Cloud"

- activate "older versions".

Then go back to "Apps". Here you can see "ExtendScript Toolkit" to install.

Maybe the terms are not identical, but analogical, because I've translated it from German.

Thank you Klaus!

I could not find the options you mentioned in the Creative Cloud Application so I just downloaded the ESTK from the adobe website.

So I needed the ESTK not the FDK :-) What did I download the FDK for then? "Just" for documentation and a source of example scripts?

Thank you both for your quick help.

Go to the Windows Start menu and type in ExtendScript Toolkit and see if it is installed. You need the ExtendScript Toolkit installed in order to run scripts. You can also start ExtendScript Toolkit manually from the Start menu to edit and run scripts.
