white on black in FM, white on white in Acrobat …

FrameMaker (Windows) 10.0.2.419

Distiller X 10.1.245

Acrobat X 10.1.2

.eps (Illustrator) includes area text callouts, white text on black background

.fm reproduces same callout style in text frame, using character style (colour, white; background colour [selected] black)

Looks fine on screen, but callouts in text frame print white on white in .pdf

Any way the Acrobat process can be persuaded to reproduce what I see in FrameMaker? would be nice …

    Niels,

Are you using the RGB or CMYK option when creating the PDF? Is white set to knockout or overprint? Is the EPS done in RGB or CMYK?

You could try creating a black background in a text box [or just use a black rectangle] behind white text instead of trying to use the background colour attribute of the style. [IIRC, the FM10 version had quirks]

Thanks for the questions, Arnis – I don't understand why, but changing the Generate .pdf setting to 'Convert CMYK to RGB' did the trick. (it's the only .eps in the book, and the coloured headings/logo have survived the change unscathed)
