Wordperfect x4 into Framemaker 9

Hi, hope you can help - The organisation has upgraded from FM7.2 to FM9 and in doing so we have lost the ability to import Corel Word Perfect files into Framemaker.  Having contacted Adobe they say that Wordperfect file format (.wpd) is not supported in FM9.  Does anyone know where I can get some filters or 3rd party converters that will enable the import of Wordperfect wpd files onto FM9.

Thanks in advance

Don

    Don,

All previous filters used by FM are still available. You simply have to uncomment, i.e. remove the ";" at the start of the line in the maker.ini file.

It would be worth testing to see if you can save your WP files as RTF and then import the RTF.

Note that there are two RTF import filters that can give subtly different results in FM. The "usual" one is "Microsoft RTF 1.6" and the second one is "RTF Japanese".

In earlier versions of FM the RTF Japanese filter could handle some RTF files that the regular filter could not, but as I say some of the differences were very, very subtle to spot, involving encoding on special characters, for example, so it's "importer beware" to the max.
