x-ref character format

In FM 7.2, when I create a cross reference, the font used to call out the x-ref in the text creates a wider line spacing for that line in the text. So, for instance, if I have a paragraph format called Body with 11 point line spacing, and I insert a cross reference in that paragraph, the line in which that x-ref is contained has a 12 point line spacing.

It seems like I should be able to create a character format and assign it line spacing, but I can't see how to do that. Is there a work around for this?

    As Van says, the character tag has additional formatting other than just the few style attributes to visually distinguish. You need to set the tag to AsIs (Shift+F8) to clear most of the undesired traits.

    Also, if your paragraph tag does not have "Fixed Line Spacing" checked, then a character tag with a larger font size will cause the containing lines to spread out further.

    You may want to also adjust your paragraph tags.

    Check the cross-reference format that you are using. Make sure it does NOT contain any references to character formats. If the cross-reference format involves nothing but things like page numbers, table numbers, etc, the font should be the same as the surrounding text.

    My cross reference format does not involve anything other than page numbers, table numbers, etc.
