Question
ZapfDingbats no longer working in FM7.2
Hi everyone,
(FM7.2, Windows XP SP3)
I have a strange problem with my ZapfDingbats font that I hope someone can help me with.
I recently upgraded my laptop to a Dell Latitude E6500, and installed both FM7.2 and FM8.0 on it, along with all my usual apps (Acrobat Pro 8 etc). I also installed some Type 1 fonts that I have used for years, including ZapfDingbats. The ZapfDingbats displays correctly in FM8.0 and all other apps, but in FM7.2, my bullets stubbornly display as "n"s as if the font isn't installed. It appears in the list of Fonts (Format > Font), but applying it to text has no effect. I get no font substitution warnings when I open the document, and it doesn't appear in PDFs that I create from the FM7.2 document.
I've tried deleting the various font caches and other hints I found in a similar thread on this forum (in that case ZapfDingbats was not working on FM8.0 only).
BTW, I mention my make of laptop because, strange but true, initially I couldn't install any Type 1 fonts on this machine : someone on a Dell forum solved it by suggesting a regedit modification linked to the size of the system's BIOS!
Is there perhaps an alternative font that I could substitute for ZapfDingbats to at least get my bullets to display correctly ?
Best holiday wishes,
