I am not all that familiar with FrameMaker but I am needing to zip the book file so that I can send it attached to an email. I run FrameMaker 7.1. Will the person that I am sending this to be able to open the file and change it?

Sure as long as they unzip it and use a version of FM equal to or higher than yours. Will it be coming back to you? If they run a higher version, they’ll have to save it as a MIF file for you to open.

You have the further issue that any imported content in your .fm files needs to be sent also, because the email recipient may not have access to your file system (or if remote, may not have access at tolerable performance).

The solution for this in FM11 & 12 is to run an "archive" op. That didn't exist for earlier versions, but could be done with separate scripts. If your user name implies what I think it does, you have such a script available. Check your PM.
