Question

Adobe Fresco brushes with weird flick/taper

I'm having this issue where brushes have this weird taper at the end from flicking my pen. Turning up/lowering the stabilization doesn't show much of a difference either and the unwanted taper effect is still there. One of the only brushes I see that is unaffected by this is one of Fresco's default pencil brushes. All of the other ones, (including Kyle's brushes I've downloaded), have this problem. I've attached a video below to show an example of this.

I'm using a Surface Pro 8 + Slim Pen 2 on the latest version of Adobe Fresco (as of right now is 5.5.0). High Performance mode is also enabled every time Fresco is open.

I can confirm this problem with Fresco on my PC and Surface Laptop Studio. I tested this out on Photoshop but the strokes were fine.

Hello @thesheelie,

Sorry to hear about your experience. I tried replicating this on my end but was unable to do so. Would you mind trying to run Fresco under a different administrator account (Windows) and checking if it helps?

Also, try updating the OS (https://adobe.ly/3RcEmZK), reinstalling the GPU drivers (Intel / NVIDIA / AMD), and setting the Graphics Preference to High-Performance for Fresco (https://adobe.ly/3RcHuoE) and sharing your observations.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav

Thank you for your response. I have also tested this on my other PC with a graphics tablet. However, I still get the unwanted taper. My OS and graphics drivers are also up to date, (on both my main PC and Surface Pro 8), but the problem still persists. Like I mentioned already, High-Performance mode is already enabled for each time Fresco is opened.

You said that you have also tested this? I assume you are using a pressure sensitive graphics tablet or any other display tablet like mine that allows you to draw on the screen. I'm not sure if you've tested multiple brushes either, but this issue only happens when I flick the pen or make quick brush strokes, which I do frequently for lineart in my work. If I draw slowly, this issue doesn't happen.

I know it's not an issue with my pens either, since this happens even when using a Wacom or a Slim Pen 2. And the pens work fine in other programs, (Photoshop works fine for drawing lines).

Hey so I found a potential fix for now which is enabling pen pressure for the shape dynamic. But sucks for those who want to use the pixel brushes without this feature.
