Apple Pencil issue after iPadOS 27 beta update

Hi,

I’m using a 13-inch iPad Pro (M5) with an Apple Pencil Pro, running iPadOS 27 Beta.

After updating to iPadOS 27 Beta, my Apple Pencil Pro randomly disconnects while drawing in Adobe Fresco. It happens in every file with the default brushes.

The Pencil works perfectly in other apps like Procreate. I’ve already restarted my iPad, re-paired the Apple Pencil, and reinstalled Fresco, but the issue persists.

P.s I’ve already checked all the settings, restarted my iPad, re-paired the Apple Pencil, and reinstalled Fresco, but the issue still persists.

I’m having the same issue on my iPad Air M3 and Apple Pencil Pro on iPadOS 27 dev beta 3 I think, it just draws dots, and it appears to draw a lot of memory because my background music just died

Same here. Recent. Just get dots on screen. No matter what brush I use. Frustrating. Adobe Aqua for the kids is the same.

    Hi @Theraphosa,

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue after updating to iPadOS 27 Beta.

Could you please confirm your exact Adobe Fresco version? Since you're using a beta version of iPadOS, could you also let us know whether you're able to reproduce the same behavior on the latest public (non-beta) iPadOS release, if you have an opportunity to test? Adobe officially supports released versions of iPadOS, so this will help us narrow down whether it's a beta compatibility issue. Ref: Adobe Fresco system requirements | Fresco

In the meantime, I'll also check this further with the product team. Additionally, please verify whether the Apple Pencil options are available under Fresco > Settings > App Settings > Input > Apple Pencil. Also check iPad Settings > Apple Pencil and let us know how the Double Tap and Squeeze actions are currently configured, as iPadOS also manages these gestures.

    Looking forward to your update.

    Hi Abhishek,

I’m using Adobe Fresco version 7.4.2.

I also checked Fresco > Settings > App Settings > Input > Apple Pencil, but the issue still occurs.

Instead of drawing smooth strokes, the pencil sometimes doesn’t track my movement and the strokes turn into dots or broken points instead of continuous lines.

This issue only happens in Adobe Fresco. My Apple Pencil Pro works normally in all other apps.

    Hi @Theraphosa,

Thanks for confirming the details and for testing those settings.

I'm currently checking this behavior with the product team to determine whether it's a known issue related to Fresco 7.4.2 and iPadOS 27 Beta. I'll update the thread as soon as I have more information.

    Thanks for your patience!
