Apple Pencil Pro used to allow changing of color and size with barrel squeeze. It doesn't anymore. Why was it taken away.

Apple Pencil Pro used to allow changing of color and size along with previous brushes with barrel squeeze. It doesn't anymore. Now it’s just last brushes. The feature I used least.
Why was it taken away and is there a way of restoring it?
