clipping masks layers turned into images after export to Illustrator

Hi everyone,

 

Hope someone can shed some light onto how to solve the issue I am having with Fresco to Illustrator workflow (for reference: I'm working on Windows, latest Fresco version and Illustrator 2025).

 

I created a complex vector illustration in Fresco with clipping masks (in vector!) and wanted to clean up and further edit in Illustrator as I used to do. I exported from Fresco as both PDF and PSD and opened in Illustrator and all layers that had vector clipping masks in Fresco were turned into images in Illustrator and I'm not able to edit these layers.

 

Would appreciate some guidance how to work with this and solve the issue. I need to clean up the file and prepare for print.
